Below is a list of rules for the Runsafe, mostly relating to our Minecraft server however some of the more ambiguous ones such as behavior extend to the other services we provide such as our TeamSpeak server.
= Universal Rules =
These rules apply broadly across the Minecraft and Discord servers.

* At all times we expect players to present themselves in a mature, friendly manner and respect both staff members and other players within the community. Any attempts to stir arguments, insult others, grief gameplay past what we allow in certain worlds or other actions of a similar nature will result in a verbal warning from staff and escalate from there with repeat incidents.
===- Conduct yourself respectably.===
''We're all for having fun, but seek to be a good player in the community. If you aren't sure how to do that, consult [[Player Conduct]] for inspiration.''

* Spamming the server intentionally through any means is not allowed, this includes but is not limited to: Chat flooding, causing repetitive server messages such as emotes or death messages, mass generation of entities in the world to produce lag.
===- Listen to staff when you are instructed to do/not do something.===
''Staff make requests to uphold our environment & gameplay standards. Ignoring them or being argumentative/difficult puts you on thin ice rapidly.''

* Most hacked/modified clients are not allowed on our server, this includes but is not limited to: X-rays/invisible textures, mini-maps that show player locations, fly enablers (outside of server-give game modes), modifying speed/jump power, automatic chat senders, position tracers.
===- No discriminatory behaviors or ideologies.===
''This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, nazism, etc.. If it disavows the human rights of a group of people, it doesn't belong on Runsafe.''

* Impersonation of staff on any level is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Any attempts to pretend to be a member of staff also falls under this rule.
===- Do not evade staff punishments using an alternate account.===
''If you were muted/trolled/banned etc., this was a punishment for you, not your account.''

* Minecraft, Bukkit and the Runsafe Framework all have bugs, and while we try to fix these as soon as possible to provide a flawless gaming environment for our players, we cannot catch them all. Exploiting/abusing a bug for personal gain or to cause grievances on the server is not tolerated and will more often than not result in a ban. Should you encounter a glitch or bug, it should be reported on our forum, TeamSpeak or to a member of staff.
===- Do not ask for a higher rank/console access.===
''For more information on how player ranks are obtained, see [[Player Ranks]].''

This list is not definitive however we try to include every rule on here so players are aware.
===- Do not impersonate staff or other users.===
''Don't try to fool anyone about who you are, or what your rank is.''

===- Do not spam or advertise other servers without permission.===
''Spamming can be advertising or an excess of low-effort/low-value messages.''

===- Please default to English on Runsafe.===

These rules exist to offer heightened clarity on how players generally need to conduct themselves on Runsafe. If a rule is broken, punishments often include being muted, kicked, banned, or the Troll rank. In less severe cases, the rule break may only be met with a warning, or merely let go. However, a large number of minor rule breaks may get you banned in a "Death by a thousand cuts" sort of way, and the admins are rarely keen to go back on that one.

Staff discretion is always in effect to account for unique situations. Understand that we are not looking for ways to punish good players, nor define loopholes for troublemakers. If you have been banned, you can request an appeal on our Discord.

Universal Rules

These rules apply broadly across the Minecraft and Discord servers.

- Conduct yourself respectably.

We're all for having fun, but seek to be a good player in the community. If you aren't sure how to do that, consult Player Conduct for inspiration.

- Listen to staff when you are instructed to do/not do something.

Staff make requests to uphold our environment & gameplay standards. Ignoring them or being argumentative/difficult puts you on thin ice rapidly.

- No discriminatory behaviors or ideologies.

This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, nazism, etc.. If it disavows the human rights of a group of people, it doesn't belong on Runsafe.

- Do not evade staff punishments using an alternate account.

If you were muted/trolled/banned etc., this was a punishment for you, not your account.

- Do not ask for a higher rank/console access.

For more information on how player ranks are obtained, see Player Ranks.

- Do not impersonate staff or other users.

Don't try to fool anyone about who you are, or what your rank is.

- Do not spam or advertise other servers without permission.

Spamming can be advertising or an excess of low-effort/low-value messages.

- Please default to English on Runsafe.

Our staff cannot moderate a language they don't speak, so we generally prefer English to avoid this issue.

Universal Gameplay Rules

These rules apply broadly to all gameplay on the Minecraft server.

- No hacked gameplay. Ask for admin permission to use modded features.

We don't like things that disrupt the intended gameplay challenges. Seek admin permission before using anything beyond Optifine features.

- Do not exploit bugs or circumvent gameplay restrictions.

Don't use bugs to grief protected areas, clip through world barriers, etc.. Please report bugs to staff, and don't seek them out.

- Do not cause problematic lag/load on the server.

If this starts happening unintentionally, seek to undo what you did.

- If you suspect a hacker, do not call them out. Report them.

Report them to a staff member privately using "/whisper <player> <message>" or Discord.'

Survival Rules

These rules apply specifically to Survival gameplay.

- Embrace the spirit of free-for-all Survival.

Survival allows griefing & PvP. Hardship is inherent, and we encourage competition as much as alliances. See Player Conduct for more.

- Hacks/Mods/Clients offering a considerable advantage in Survival are strictly prohibited.

As mentioned in Rule 1, don't use a modded feature without admin permission. Survival gameplay is especially strict.

- Logging out or warping away from PvP is currently discouraged.

Excessive offenses are likely to be punished. Play the game.

- Please strive to keep chicken farms down to 10 chickens or less.

There are many ways to achieve this. Find one.

Creative Rules

These rules apply specifically to Creative gameplay.

- Strive to make builds presentable before attempting to move on.

Staff will assess if a build is of fair quality before you can begin another one. Unfinished builds may be deleted. See Player Conduct for more.

- No griefing in the Creative world.

Any action that harms another player's build against their wishes is forbidden.

- When using liquids (water/lava), ensure they do not run off into the roads.

Come on, man. Don't make a mess. Ideally, keep mine carts off the road, too.

- Do not use saved hotbars (or any other method) to access otherwise inaccessible blocks.

If they aren't in the regular inventory or placeable, they are not meant to be used.

Minigame/Event Rules

These rules apply specifically to minigame and special event gameplay.

- Do not brick a spleef game by camping, keep moving.

If the game isn't moving because you won't, start hopping.

- Do not meddle with other players' intended gameplay experience during special events.

Adaptive staff calls are often needed for one-off events. Please, just listen, and you will be OK.

Important Clarifications on Punishment
