DBDark Age
The Return of DBD
The Runsafe Revival spawned new life on the server, but where there is life, there is also death.
As a new generation of alliances formed, facing the challenges of Survival, a notorious clan from the past emerged from the shadows: DBD.
DBD was a clan of veteran players, with roots in the 2014 clans era. In 2023, at the height of the Runsafe Revival, after being dormant for years, it was revitalized by the Wizard MrMarc45689 and former Admin turned Wizard, Branterson.
The return of DBD brought with it the return of one of Runsafe’s most legendary Wizards, Propasta, now known as LoLSubmit. From the dark underworld of the server’s trolling past, old troublemakers like its_the_darkness and Azurescen resurfaced.
They had recruited a new player—a young troll by the name of PapaPetes, who was fated to be involved with such a clan.
Events Unfold
Their escapades began with heavy dergon farming. There were days when all dergon sightings were held within DBD’s gaze. This mass of dergon flesh and bone allowed them to craft many sets of legendary Dergonbone Armor. Their ambition did not stop at topping the leaderboards; they set out to crush the fledgling clans of the Revival.
When Propasta was not attempting to scam new players, he went from base to base, making craters. Many bases fell at his hand, including a large old-world base created by the clan PEE, known as PEE Base. This abandoned base had been the home of Max8abug, a Revival player.
Resistance
This disturbance in the otherwise friendly atmosphere of the Revival piqued the interest of Moderator and one of Runsafe's eldest veterans, TracerON, who set out on a quest to return the favor to DBD. Weeks of preparation, planning, and intelligence gathering led TracerON to DBD’s main dergon rod outside a mushroom island. The rod was formed out of solid obsidian.
With the help of Max8abug, TracerON brought the tower down with heavy swings of a pickaxe. When DBD logged in, they would fall to their death. TracerON flew down on the wings of an elytra and snagged their dropped inventories.
This put DBD on notice and sparked a clan war. It was not long, however, before TracerON discovered through a voice chat leak where DBD had been camping out: The bones of the old POSH base. POSH was a poorly hidden old-world base partially covered by an unfinished mountain.
The Fall of POSH
When DBD was offline, TracerON and Max8abug snuck into POSH base, took loot of interest, and filled the halls with TNT. Unfortunately, as if by fate, Propasta and other members logged in just as TracerON let slip a fiery arrow. The TNT ignited and set off a chain reaction down below. TracerON safely teleported away, returning to a /home nearby. TracerON flew back to the mountain peak, where she saw Propasta on foot below. She dove down and fired her boom bow, but Propasta had downed an invisibility potion and unequipped his armor, vanishing from view. As TracerON closed the gap, an arrow from Propasta’s Boom Bow let loose. Her totem of undying had spared her, but she was now fighting an invisible foe on their home turf, with backup coming. TracerON retreated to the skies after coming within an inch of death and made it safely back to base.
An End to Grief
In the meantime, Propasta continued his bombing campaigns. TracerON was still on the hunt for DBD’s farming base. They had a creeper farm somewhere, and she was determined to find it.
TracerON knew about Propasta’s affinity for mushroom islands, and began checking each one she had logged in the world. While returning to a sethome she had made while hunting for Sunkilleer’s base, she saw dozens of dergon fireballs ripping through the sky. This was proof that DBD had set up another dergon rod on the mushroom island nearby.
On the Wings of the Phoenix, she rocketed towards the source of the fireballs, but encountered a very strange anomaly: particle effects that seemed to be following her every move. She paused her search to try and take pictures of this anomaly and was barely successful. With a picture captured, she continued in the direction of the fireballs, and sure enough, she found not only DBD’s dergon rod, but their farm base——and they were offline. After looting the base of what valuables were present, she set the place ablaze.
Propasta and the Temple of Tracer
This broke Propasta, who was saddened by loss of their bases. He was determined to get revenge. One night, when Tracer had logged off to eat dinner, DBD struck. Through mysterious means, they had found her underground temple and destroyed it. To add insult to injury, they spawned withers with special names to troll Tracer, then built a makeshift dergon rod above ground to fell a dergon in that very spot. The clan built a memorial to mark the dirty deed.
Propasta and the Banhammer
Since it could never be verified exactly how Tracer’s temple was discovered, and due to bad behavior, Propasta received a temporary ban by Admin RainbowDeborah. To this day, the consensus has been foul play on behalf of DBD. It was alleged that the strange particles Tracer had seen that day on her way to the mushroom island, was an Admin with particle effects tracking her movements, and passing DBD intelligence.
Reconstruction
After that, DBD had all but returned to the shadows from whence they came, unsatisfyingly vanquished by TracerON. But as with all stories of war, there are seldom happy endings. Any progress that might have been made during the Runsafe Revival, was cut down by DBD. DBD’s Dark Age had scared off many new players. In truth, DBD realized that the Runsafe of old was dead.
What followed however, was reconstruction, putting an end to the DBDark Age. TracerON amassed many resources and began rebuilding all of the bases Propasta and DBD had destroyed with help from Revival players.
